Still want to teach
I quit riding last year. Last week I went down to North Carolina for my college roommates funeral.
I was driving an old buddy of mine around in a rental car and some kid on a sport bike was tailgating us.
I explained to my friend how dangerous tailgating was because you can have an object pop up from the car in front of you, or not be able to stop when he slams on his brakes. I pulled over and let the kid pass me, but caught up to him at the next light.
I tried yelling to him that if he kept riding like that, he wasnt going to live long, and my friend was freaking out cause hes a retired district attorney and expects everybody to shoot at us. The kid didnt hear me over his engine noise, with his full face helmet on, so we will never know if he wouldve taken my instruction to heart.

Deaths may be up, but the media is focusing on every one of them.
Hard to tell without seeing the numbers.
I'll tell you though, the driving is BAD worse I've ever seen. They're hitting everything, just whoosh off the road they go
