Mikuni carb hard to start when bikes cold!
So I’ve got a twin cam 88 modified nicely and has always surprised my mates with how instant my start ups were after doing upgrades which are as follows; Vance and hinge big radius pipes, rocket 514c cams, mikuni hsr42 with mikuni manifold and enrichner, fueling cam plate and oil pump, se lifters and s&s adjustable pushrods. I originally have the mikuni aircleaner set up but kept splitting the rubber backing plate they come with so upgrade to an arleness velocity 65 degree aircleaner kit which at first was great! But in the last few weeks when I go to start the bike for the first time that day I pull the enrichner out and wind it over maybe 4-5 times before it will start, and when it starts it takes a few moments to raise the rpms and by that time pushed the **** back in and am using my throttle to keep the revvs steady for about 30 seconds then I’m good to go! Other than that bike starts as soon as I push that button! Should I suspect enrichner problem or the 22 year old fuel tap maybe?

Might wanna check the enrichener cable and piston to see if it's sticking. OEM vacuum petcocks are known to have the old vacuum lines crack as they age. Sucking in more air and less vacuum to open the diaphragm. IF that's the case, get a Pingle petcock.
