Default Aviation Fuel in my HD

Hello all I am a newb when it comes to anything bike related so I'm wonderin if someone can send me in the right direction. I was told if you use aviation fuel in your bike it not only runs better it is cleaner and smells better too. But what I want to know is are there any harmful consequences to doing this? Is racing fuel better? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have not heard of any gains if your engine is NOT highly modded to need higher octane gas. grade of gas recommended in the owner's manual for stock engines is good enough for me. btw, welcome!

Cool

Sorry that may have been some helpful info to add. I ride a 00 Road King with a stage 1 kit, KN Filter and screaming eagle pipes.

Unless your bike has severe detonation problems, Av gas will not allow it to run better or cleaner. Most likely the opposite...especially the 100LL stuff since it burns slower and has lead added. Av gas is slightly less dense and is made to run at low temps and high altitude.

Same as above. Begin with the grade/octane suggested by HD then go from there.

Lots of anecdotal evidence but very little supported by actual test data. So use the "facts" supplied by others with some serious doubt.

Good luck!

Not to mention 100LL has a ton of lead in it which will eventually cause valve sticking, corrosive acids in the oil, foul plugs, and crap out O2 sensors in short order. Not a good choice for an engine designed to run modern fuels. While it is claimed low lead, the content is way higher than my aircraft engine requires to lube the valve seats but since they dropped 80/87 we are stuck with it's replacement and the problems too much lead causes. Does smell nice though.

I use a fuel additive that's called NOS. It should be considered an aviation fuel because it sure makes your bike "fly".
