No mid range revs

No mid range revs
Hi all,
My 1990 fat boy recently decided it wasn't going to rev past idle. I naturally assumed it was the pilot jet blocked in the carb (S&S Super E). I stripped the carb and cleaned it all out but it would not rev.
On investigating an intermittent battery connection I found the live cable crimp was snapped in half on the starter connection. A new cable was made and fitted and the engine ran sweet right through the rev range!
So if you have a similar problem check out the battery leads before stripping carbs!
