I just bought a 2008 Ultra tha was gently used, great looking bike, and great price. Still doing familarization rides to learn it. Noticed today when putting a set of arm rests on that there was fuel dripping from the connection under the tank. Any ideas?? Tthanx

Same happened here this week-end. Parked at a motel overnight, next morning went to start the bike and fuel is gushing out of the quick connect at the fuel tank, fuel pissing all over the engine. Fortunatly there was no KABOOM because I didn't notice the fuel leak initially, and the bike was running/warming up while I was finishing loading up the saddlebags on the other side.
Had to calll a flat bed to get the bike to the HD dealership, the tech replaced the connector, they said that I could not just get a new O-ring for it.
Charged 45 minutes + $58 for the new connector.
What a PITA, and huge fire risk.
What if the O-ring let go at 80 MPH on the hi-way, fuel would be all over the hot engine and directly on the spark plugs/wires...how many bikes have been burned up like this ?
Cost to replace :-
Tow = $85.00
Labor + new connector = $114.00
