Has to be OHV.
Only H-D OHV single i`m aware of is the Peashooter race bike
BUT cylinders for that have a bottom flange and threaded holes on top for Cyl. head attachment
That has neither so it had to be attached with long studs like later bikes.
I will plead ignorance

( what makes you sure it`s H-D ? )

Thank you, and you are right about not sure being an H-D cause that is information handed down to me. The bulk of the bike was allowed to slip away and is gone.
I also have a chain guard stamped with numbers I will post.

chain guard

numbers stamped on top of chain guard

The rear chain guard pictured above would be from a 1948-1962 era H-D two cycle lightweight, it's identical to and the same part number as on my 1956 ST 165. I don't think the cylinder is a H-D part and is certainly not a match to the rear chain guard, the two cycle H-D's had a bore size of roughly 2 3/8".
