Mainshaft upgrade
Thanks
You don`t just need to replace the clutch hub, you need to replace the entire clutch assembly.
The easiest way is to find a complete 5 speed gearset from a 1991 or later transmission (the newer the better), it will plug right into your transmission case.
The easiest way to go with the clutch is use a 1990-1993 assembly, it will have the same starter ring gear and primary chain sprockets.
You can use a later clutch but you will have to change the pinion gear on the starter jackshaft to match up to the newer type starter ring gear, and it will also have different size primary chain sprockets, you may need to change the compensator sprocket in order for the primary chain to fit.
You will also have to replace the clutch pushrod to work with the newer clutch.
