I love these old sportys with the right side shift. In my opinion the '74 sporty was the best of the ironheads. I just bought a 2003 FXD but I'll never get rid of my '74 sporty.
How many other old ironhead lovers are there out there?
I've got a '73 XL 1000 with the right side gearshift. It's not the only bike I ride and it seems each sportster outing starts with me trying to put the rear brake in gear. Once you get going though, it all becomes part of you again. I can relate to never getting rid of an old ironhead.
Well, it has been 2 months and I have over 400 miles on my XLCH and now shift with my right foot without even thinking about it. However, I now have problems riding other bikes with a standard shift.
amen to to that! i don't think i could ever let mine go
