Mark - Just saw this, I'll ask for some pics from the builder.

My front rim and tire are complete, and I have an old school Moon tank narrowed for the oil tank.

Justin found a front fender for a 60s big twin that will be the rear fender when we are done. Lost some pics, so I'll add them later.

New rear shocks are mounted too and ride height / rake is set.

Should have the funds for a new EVO in July, then just need a tranny.

Should be rolling it home in the bed of my SC the second week of June . . .

Here it is in almost roller form. This was before the oil tank was done.

Handlebars are only for mock up, mine will be low-rise made to fit me . . .

Some of this will become the rear fender . . .

Been a while since I posted. I finally have a registered engine that will be mounted soon in the bike. Originally I planned to go with a new warranted EVO for reliability. Many people commented that an older, original setup would be a PITA to maintain and would be more trouble. I am usually one to buck that kind of advice, especially when the 'engine' could have such an impact on the finished bike. I travel coast to coast in my old '60 VW with nothing more than a handful of tools and my dog & tent. Roadside issues and troubles are part of the adventure. So . . . .

This is officially a '56 FL! Registered till mid 2010 in Cali. More so, it is a pan bottom end and a shovel top end. I understand there was a short time frame where this was an actual Harley engine (pan / shovel). Recently gone through by a reputable builder in Orange county with receipts to back up. I am STOKED!!!!!

You can see it in the top of this photo mounted in another frame:

Four speed Harley ratchet top tranny (as I heard it described), narrow belt primary included.

Paid off engine / tranny / primary yesterday, should be mounted and mock up continued this coming week. More pics of engine to come shortly. . .

Default new build

Sweet looking ride, I was starting on something similar but got happily sidetracked. I've got a 2005 Santee replica swingarm frame that has factory stretch to fit an evo in it. Picked up a '82 dual disc frontend complete, a dual flange rear wheel, and my old front dresser fender as a rear fender. But people wanted so much for motors and trannies that I bought, for cheap, a mostly stock '72 FX to pirate for drivetrain. Now that's together and really like it. Don't want to rip it apart. I talked to S&S about setting me up with a flatside Shovel lower and Evo topend. I thought that would be really trick! Lack of dough prohibits going forward. Wife feels house needs work and a 4th Harley is being selfish. Gotta keep the homelife happy..Sigh.... But one Day...............

Default RE: Project Fun

Was wondering when their would be another rider, whom is as gung-ho and determined to make a one-off scooter, out their. Your motivation is getting me of my butt & getting on w/the carb setup, on mine. Funds play a critical role, must admit.....wanted to stray a few times & cut corners, just to finally kick this thing over....but then...it would be cheating on the "plan" set out from get go. Keep the pics flowin, man..good to see "garage built" isn't just a wives tale, RIDE-FREE!!

So the rear fender is getting roughed in. The side supports were shortened and reshaped, and the fender re-radiused. Still more to trim off on the lower edge, towards the front.

Getting close
