I have a friend who has a 84 1/2 FXR. He's had the engine redone, and is doing a lot of work to get it up to speed, but he is also a daily rider. He mentioned something about an oil bath chain; but it's a 5 speed electirc only start bike. The primary in it is in prety bad shape. he wants to go to an open primary on it. I don't know if it's a shovel or an evo, or a one off primary, only for that year. Any suggestions on where to look are helpful at this point too.
Let me clarify. Evo top, shovel bottom? Three bolt derby cover? I don't know nothing about those vintage bikes. I ride an 03 RKC, which I dig a lot, but it doesn't look like my old 93 dyna down there. There is a cluth actuator aem protruding from the top of the tranny.
If in fact it is a one off thing, can anyone point to someone who could machine out an open primary, and about how much it may run?
