Default fl frames

im considering a project bike and i love the look of the 60s through early 80s fl,dou glides, etc... i now ride a 1991 heritage softail but i dont like the way a softail handles. i know its because of the hidden shocks and a bike with side shocks is better. im considering a aftermarket fl 4 speed type frame like paugcho, rigid engine mount swing arm bolted to frame with shocks on the side. any feedback on the way these bikes handled. im cool with the vibration of a rigid mounted engine. thanks

i have driven and owned and still own both i have a 99 softail fat boy and a 1967 FL as well as customers with both and drive them all the time

i cant say one is better than the other they are different but i think the softail handles better than an early fl - the transision to the enter of a turn and the exit is smoother with a ST they tend for me to be more solid in turns plus the mechanics of the forks are better as well as the retension of the rear fork / to swing arm is stronger and does not have the flex the older bike has, NOW i would sell the ST before the 67 -- jz
