I have a 117 S&S... I put MUCH bigger cams in it... and well if its cold she can be near impossible to start or just cranky... but she will start with a push everytime and once she is going... gooooood god.... I accept the good with the bad
it is not the motor in your issue it is the cold cranking amps once you put in those big cams the compression the bike needs a new type of battery... exp with a 117 SS... all you have to do is simply replace your battery with Intersate 290 cca battery has WAY WAY WAY more cranking amps and starting issues will be a thing of the past... i would be willing to bet you either have a Odessy battery or even a stock Harley battery in that bike...
if you can not find an Intersate you can also look for a bigbore battery... if you ahve trouble finding them let me know and i will let you know where we get ours for the builds we do... hope this helps you fire up!
also synthetic lube will help your bike fire as it does not get as thick as reg oil when it cools... some guys also use a battery warmer
you may also want to run an auxilary ground direct to the starter mounting bolt. and the second to the frame.
Revtech went out of business. One of the worst engines made. Use S&S. Best for the buck. Very few if any problems. Use dynacycle oil, Mobil 1 or amsoil if you want it to last longer.
My S&S 124" is now 7 yrs old and still runs great, like a stocker with a lot more torque. My reason is have always used (over 30 yrs)S&S stuff real hard and it lasts.Good Luck
