Stopped the last of the leaking....
[sm=groupwave.gif]
...so I started on the custom seat pan on Saturday morning. Started with a cardboard template, a few hours of cutting, banging and welding on Saturday and af few more on Sunday. Put what I had on the bike about 5pm Sunday and went for a short ride. Even without padding this thing is way more comfy than my LePera Solo seat. I am sure its because of the higher back rest. Did not know I could do it this fast. Can't wait to get the gel and memory foam so I can get it covered in black leather. Here's a few pics during fabrication....

Pic of the new seat, Sickels did a great job. It turned out a wee bit wider than I expected but its very comfy and holds my big a$$ in place at freeway speeds and then some.

Next I will try a new softail fender combo. Will keep this one intact with lights so I can put it back if I don't like the new one.

Finally got the new softail fender on. Pics in gallery along with new seat. Struts and tail lights are from Big Dog custom cycles.

Good to see development thru from the frame. Good project so far Jerry, what's next?

I did not mount the fender the standard softail way. I mounted a hugger fender to the swing arm.
I believe they call it a rubbertail.

Well I have been thinking about that. Its either time to tear it down for paint or sell it and start a new project.

Was getting 40 mpg, 1st tank with the new ignition 47 mpg. Plugs are a little to white (lean) so I just put in the next size main and pilot jets.

Found the problem with my starter. This is a brand new 1.6 kw starter that would not turn my engine over occationally. Took it apart and found one bent brush hood causing the brush to hang. Fixed that, dressed the brushes and comm, now turns the engine over faster than ever.

Fixed the primary leak at the spacer, with a new aluminum spacer. Chrome one was way out of tollerance at the o-ring seal areas. I have had the primary apart so many times that I have now cracked the gasket between the inner and outer. Will replace that today.

Gotta get to work on that seat....
Is that HWY or city mileage?

Combined. After quite a few tanks I am getting 43-52 mpg. Lower mileage is commuting with 50% sharing lanes in slow traffic. Higher mileage is out in the country cruzing between 45 and 60 mph.
