Hello, last week rode my Softail Evo Ultima 127 and suddenly had a backfire and saw smoke coming from underneath in the starter area. I remove this component, I think but not sure that the smoke came from it, and I want to replace it.. but what is it?..
Did you smell electrical burning with the smoke or something else ? Those circuit breakers do go bad but they usually don't do the mushroom cloud thing. You'll hear a pop and nothing works anymore.
Thanks!
for the new one that I will buy - do you know which terminal should I connect to which wire? I see that terminals are different, one is brass and one is steel.

there was some noticeable white smoke, a misfire and then engine stopped. I will start with replacing the breaker. It’s strange that I don’t have any fuses anywhere, just the ignition controller that looks fine, not burned, and the main breaker.
I will investigate more, will remove the controller and unused wires, and will add a main fuse... will take some pictures and will ask you. Thanks again!

Connected the new main circuit breaker, connected the battery and pushed the starter.
some noise came from the starter for only 3 seconds, then the main breaker poped.
do you think the starter is burned? Should I pull it out?
