so tonight was just full of awesome... had my best friend stop by to help me turn a few wrenches... but that turned into CLEANING THE HELL OUT OF A MOTOR! he and i hit this sucker for about 4 hours got the underside, front, and one upper jug side done... also took off the side case only to reveal EVERYTHING IS NEW!!!! NEW BEARINGS, CHAIN, GEARS, EVEN THE WEAR GUARD ON THE CHAIN IS BRAND NEW!!!! Looks liks someone overhauled the motor and pretty recent! nice part is all the bolts just twist out smooth... just awesome just need to track down some gaskets now... here are the pics

he explains how to make your own gasket. i never buy them anymore, i buy sheets of material (different material for different kinds of gaskets! remember that! they are not all the same!)
and it takes a combination of scissors hole punches and tapping/drawing the shape out.
ive rebuilt an ENTIRE engine with gaskets made from a cereal box (thin cardboard, it is solid and has no air pockets like box cardboard.)
the engine in that 2500cc scooter is still running great today with no leaks and no gasket sealer.
however i do suggest you use a sealer like permatex The Right Stuff, best stuff you can possibly use in place of a real gasket, and in most cases its better than a paper gasket!
edit i looked at your pictures, it looks like the person before you already rebuilt the engine once before with their own homemade gaskets! haha, keep tradition alive!
