I posted a while back about a 01' XL883 we picked up. It was a ugly Daisy Yellow and the bright aluminum paint job on the engine and fork slider were trashed. It had to go! Pulled the engine and shot it a semi gloss, and then polished all the cover bolts. I had the tins painted vivid black. I have been putting it back together the last few weeks. I got laid off 2 weeks ago and ........well at least I have a bike to work on. .....I like it Black So much Better!
Yeah Perez it does have that look to it. Harley's just look good Black!
Got a lot done today. Mostly mundane crap like relocating the front turn signals to the lower triple tree and fascinating others like ignition and coil, carb, horn, making sure the tank fits over the electrical harness. Then I spent the rest of the morning zip tying everything. It’s starting to come about.
I got new timing and Derby Covers coming for it. Chrome with the Harley Logos. Gonna do a air filter replacement kit and new exhaust. Its gonna be a little raped ape!
I had not realized how much I like the Peanut tank. It looks great in black and without the HD logo. I used to have a 2006 xl1200R, I made the mistake of changing the tank to a fatbob tank. Maybe I'll get another old sportster as a second bike, but not till I save some money first.
