Have a question about Summping?
Seems my oil is leaking past my oil pump check valve and causing (sumping) a descent amount of oil to come out my breather. I have a 96" Ultima motor. I think I know where the check valve is but was wondering if anyone can tell me for sure before I start pulling things out that I don't need to. Thanks

You are going to think I am being a smart ***.. but I am trying to save you here.. go buy a manual, if you lay out 1000s for a bike, be smart enough to buy a 70 dollar factory manual, and parts reference guide, about 20 bucks... they are priceless, and its takes ALL the guess work out of it..

Its wet sumping,,,the check ball is not seated properly in the seat,,,this could be a fleck of dirt,,a worn seat,,low spring pressure on ball...Cheapest and easiest ia new spring and ball,,local shop,, Remove old spring and ball,,blow out orifice,,spray a little WD40 into blow out install new ball and spring...If this doesn't work you need to reseat check ball either by tapping ball into seat with ahammer and a drift ( I never do it this way) OR you weld a new ball on a old pushrod and lap it out with compound and the new tool you made,,flush and clean thoroughly,,,even better to have pump off motor but can be done on,,It will need to be flushed alot to get grit out,,then assemble with new ball and spring...
