Well it's been over a month since I've made any progress with my bike. We gave my tank to a friend to finish the bondo/glaze and that ****er had it for over 3 weeks and didn't do a damn thing. Pissed to say the least. Anyway we got the tank bank and finished it up ourselves. Not the greatest but it will get me through til winter.
I was afraid of getting stranded on the bike so I ran it around the block a few times and it still needs jetted but I was psyched to be on it. I get home and started to tune it up and then I broke off me damn key in the ignition!
I bought a new drag specialties switch and it sucks. Vertical is off. Turn to left is lights and turn it right is lights and ignition. My old switch was off, then ignition, then lights and ignition. This wouldn't be a big problem but I'm running a small *** battery and it seems to drain really fast when the lights are on and the bikes not running.
Sorry to hear about that jagoff yinz had doing the tank. Doesn't look too bad as is man...This thing is mean as is can't wait till shes all done. That exhaust looks sick comin up behind the frame like that. Sucks about the key too haha
Had it out on the road the other day for a few miles. Runs like ****! Haha. Needs bigger jets and a few other adjustments. After this pic was taken we took the carbs off and the PO stripped the mixture screw. I have a new screw and some jets on order. Hopefully they'll be by the end of the week.
holy crap, great choice on the paint. Are you leaving the frame unfinished? And how are you holding that tank on? It looks like it's sitting on top of the backbone completely with a couple of straps or something holding the bottom.
I got the frame and a bunch of misc parts powder coated black.
The tank is held on with two threaded bungs welded into the tunnel of the tank. The top tube of the frame was drilled and 2 counter bored bungs were welded into the top tube.
Absolutely love it. Great job. I hope it continues to go forward. It always seems like the last 5% is the hardest... I hope you have many happy and safe miles.
Ok pretty much done for now. Got her all back up and running. It's leaking out of the carbs a bit. I have to figure out whats going on there. I'm pretty psyched how everything turned out!
