I've never really sought out to build a bike, but I have been watching a guy locally selling a DNA softail 180/200 frame with MSO forever, and he's now down to $600 for it, plus he's got a bunch of parts to go with. Softail chrome shocks, fat bob tanks, drive belt, primary cover, and some other stuff. For that price, I could let the thing sit around for a few years before I start building it. I've got a bunch of questions, tho. What kind of quality are DNA's products? Even with an MSO, if I was to buy a motor from a wrecked bike, wouldn't my custom bike still carry a salvage title because the motor was out of a wrecked bike? I understand building a bike from frame up is a huge project, but are there any other small details that I could be missing as far as registering it, insuring it, etc? Thanks.
Can't say about all of DNA's products, didn't even know they built frames.
180/200 rear is not so bad--lots of folks bought into the big rear wheel...ya could have that swapped lower to a more common 150mm, 180 is nice, I guess, so is the 200mm, its up to you...$600 fur hardtail frame + softail shocks(softail frame)--gettin better----------

What is problem?
Insurance?
Custom bike insurance is more expensive--
But my custom bike has no depreciation value--
I pay insurance on a custom bike that has no depreciation, unlike a stocker
Want to build a bike from the frame on up? Fine--need help?. Fine
Recording yer build should be as accurate as possible (get receipts--notorized whenever possible), yer state has laws, check w/ them--local title & registration office can help out
I have a 180 on my deuce and like it. I want to fat tire the front, tho. If i build my own custom bike, it'll probably be a fat tired bike with skinny forks, I love that look. I didn't think $600 was bad for the frame. I guess we'll have to see what tax returns look like this year.
You register the frame (MSO) in most states not the motor.People make the registration sound more difficult than it really is.Have all paper work for everything and shop insurance companies. There are several out there that insure custom builds.
Build to your states equipment requirements above all.
