Default Title for custom ???

My father in law recently passed awayand left a few unfinished custom bikes. His widow is having a hard time getting a title for one of them. She has MSO's on the engine and transmission, but no paperwork on the frame. The frame was built by wildcat in south florida, and as the story goes for whatever reason he didn't get an MSO for the frame and Wildcat is now out of bussiness. I should also mention hehas several otherwildcat frames, one of which was also built and is already titles. Iv'e given thoughto swapping all the parts over to one of the other frames, however this particular frame was completely polished so thats not realy what we want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions of how we can go aboutgetting a title for this bike, I appreciate any advice.oh and here is a pic of the bikeI'm asking about.

I am finishing my second custom, and here in Maine,we contact our motor vehicle division and explain the situation, and it always works out. That is unless they come up with stolen property, then it is not good. Both of my frames are Harley frames that had the necks cut off.

I'm not advocating doing anything illegal, but, if all else fails in dealing with the beaurecrats....

Go to a scrap yard, buy some lengths of scrap tubing comparable to what the frame is made of. Buy some appropriate welding rod. Present the receipts to the title -yokels and tell 'em it's a "hand-made" frame.

First off, sorry for yours and your mother-in-law's loss. My sympathies.

I, too, don't know jack about titles and all that, but that is definitely a sweet, sweet ride. I'm not normally into customs, but that is definitely a fine piece of machinery. I'm not into the big sweeping customs with forks the length of football fields and all that. I really like the profile and lines on this particular sled. Very sweet. Certainly hope you can get it figured out soon!

Thanks for the input guys, and thanks for the complements on the bike. Once this title stuff gets worked out I'm hoping to take it for a spin, it's got a 116" S&S motor in it and it only weighs around 600 pounds, I bet it moves pretty good. I'm gonna research on Florida's DMV websites and see if I can come up with anything.
