I'd love to make my own seat.

.................................................. ......

Is it really that hard to? I'm pretty creative and very good with my hands.

Making my own seat would be really nice.

Anyone willing to answer a few questions?

Nice template Sticky.

What questions do you have??

I am working on building my seat now.

Thanks for the offer.

Well lets see. I have a template and I make the pan. How do you shape the foam and whats the best density to use...and where do I order it. Then I guess the next question is how do I shape and moldthe leather.

I realize this is a lotof info so made a picture or two would better explain the process as you go along.

Good job Mud,

Mimo.
Mimo, I do believe that "good job" should be addressed to Sticky.
The picture is his template.

Sticky, I've made my pan, polyurethane.

I am currently mocking up the seat shape in plaster and clay.

My intention is to send the mockup to the foam man.

Then let him shape the foam and send the pan w/foam
along to the leather man.

I believe they use an electric turkey knife to shape the foam,
no real idea on the leather molding.

Wish I had time to learn the foam and leather.

The density of the foam, can't help there.

I produced my seat pan with resin,
and I could answer a ? or two in that area.

Mimo

Good job Mud,
Thanks Mud I have a great seat guy for shaping and leather work. Roberti Customs.

Mimo thanks for the compliment. Best way I know to show rear fender angles on a single seat.

These are the kind of mixed leather and colors I'd like to do. The leather tool work I can pull off but the shaping of the leather, stitchingand foam are what makes it quality. Guess I'm just going to have to play around if I'm serious about learning.

thanks again for thereplies
