Default Project Bike Ideas

I'm wanting to start on a project bike this winter, does anybody have any idea on what year & model of bike would be good as in cost wise. I'm not set on any particular model, just one where I could buy the bike at a reasonable price. I'm going to be doing all the work myself so that should save me some $$$$

Aside from cost, what do you want to build and ride? Where do you want to end up? Do you want to go long distance, or stick around town and go on trips once in a while? It's a big difference between a cool rigid pan or shovel and a newer bagger. Customs come in a lot of different flavors. I am partial to old Dave Mann style bikes, but ride a new Road King daily. It's all about what you want in the end. Best thing is to define your goal and don't sacrifice more than you can stand. Otherwise, you won't be happy with the end result. Just my 2 cents.

I like the ironhead only cause I am building one now... the hardest part was wiring. Wiring on the ironhead even though was difficult since i ran all led there are no fuses on my bike just circuit breakers. other than fairly good to work with as long as you find a good motor

for me, my winter project is a sportster hardtail conversion. gong to keep it simple. 180 tire. biltwell bars. part of my inspiration is chop machine's black bike.
DS. been awhile since you posted. which direction are you headed?
