Default Front brake pistons won't retract?

Anyone ever have this problem and discover the cause? Performance Machine calipers with an Arlen Ness master cylinder. 2001 Custom build (not by me) anyone have an idea as to what should be used for the brake fluid? I am considering a complete flush of the system and going with DOT 4. Ideas anyone?? Thanks

I believe I would go through the whole system.
Clean, flush and rebuild everything.
I prefer DOT 5 because it doesn't attack paint and works great for the way I ride which is conservative compared to many...occasionally I turn up the wick but not as often as I used to. Not sure if DOT 5 holds up well under long duration, hard braking.

if the calipers are sticking it sounds like you need a rebuild on them. I had the same problem with my rear caliper......new o rings and your good to go.

Yea what they said, rebuild the cylinder and flush, run what ever you want then, however I am with megawatt and vote for the silicone. However it might get confusing running one if front and different in rear.

Pull the caliper , leave the line connected and pump the MC a bit till the pads come together then pry them open with a screw driver and do it again only this time open the pads just enough to slip over the rotors with a slight drag , once bolted up hit the handle a few times to seat things and you should be good to go . This breaks the " seal " the O-ring has on the pistons and allows a bit of fluid to lube that area on the pistons . Since pads don't move but tenths of an inch they do tend to dry out and stick without constant use & wear .

Brake fluid always run the same front & rear , no confusion on your part that way 4 or 5 is fine but pick one for both .

Well Twisted makes a good point, what do you mean when you say they won't retract? Are they dragging real bad? Are you not able to push them in to change pads?
These only move a fraction of an inch and do not have springs pushing them back in.
