Default Anybody !!!Help Please!!!

Hiall

I amgoing to get stuck into cleaning the bike early to tomorrow and need some advice.

Frst of i have went for the old skool look with my bike and have some whitewall tyres fitted and would appreciate some advice on how to clean them?

Secondly how do you lot clean the most fiddly bits on your bike (the bits in between your fins on your engines)?

As stated above !!! HELP !!! please.

Regarding the whitewall tires. There's a ton of opinions on getting them white. Just search the thread and you'll find plenty. I like using Mr. Clean sponges and Scrubbing Bubbles.

I like Westley's Bleche Wite for whitewalls, Simple Green for cleaning, but that's just me. [&:]

Both at Wal-Mart.

Dang, hope you didn't start another argument.

Ok heres my 2c...

I had a deluxe for a couple of years, so similar issues to the questions you asked...

firstly I would clean the wheels & spokes..

Then then spray the wheels with the HD wheel and tyre cleaner, use a green nylon kitchen scourer to scrub them clean....then will clean up nice and have no damage long term.

Rinsing and moving the wheels around as I go to prevent streaking.

Then wash the bike starting with paintwork, then chrome, then engine...

I work from the top down and keep rinsing the wheels and tyres as I go to prevent marks.

Then I would use a leaf blower to dry off the bike and finally use harley detailing spray and soft cloths to polish.

Hope that helps some!

To clean the engine and fins I would wet it down while cool. Spray with simple green or S100 and then use a paint brush to spread it around on the engine and fins. To clean the edge of the fins use NEVR DULL and wipe. As far as the rest of it is concerned, it is a matter of opinion. I do the whole bike at once, then hit it with a dryer and then polish all the shiny bits. I would do the tires before all of that. I hear the Mr. Clean magic eraser works well for the whitewalls.. There is one for wheels. I got some whitewalls I'll be putting on soon then I'll let you know for sure about that.

For whitewalls I would use a SOS soap pad. It will be as white as ever

SOS pads will work but is abrasive and actually puts little fine scratches in the rubber and in time will cause them to "chaulk". Future cleaning with SOS will require more and more scrubbing as the scratches become more pronounced.. Something less abrasive but cleans well is Softscrub. It has bleach in it and an alkline.

I used to use the SOS pads but after the chaulking started I stopped. Of course whitewalls will usually yellow in time and SOS will surely make them white again but at a cost. For me the Softscrub is the cats meow.

lets see if i can help!!!

white walls can be a real pain but i found a secret that not only works its has protective value also!!!!

go on the internet to buy this but you will find that it is a wise investment!!!!!!

this one product will not only protect your tires it is also the answer to your jugs!!!!!!

go to CLEANCYCLE PRODUCTS out of vermont these products can also be found at most every national HARLEY RALLY.

the product BLACKOUT is how I make alot of money detailing!
used with a WHITE or BLUE scrubby pad BLACKOUT CLEANS AND TAKES OFF STREET GRIME RESTORING YOUR WHITE WALLS BACK TO WHITE and TEFLON COATS your rubber to keep it from drying out.

in your motor BLACKOUT is a beautifull experience!!!
I recommend going to a paint store a buying the better grade 1" sponge tip paint brushes
(the cheaper ones from home depot breakup costing more money in usage)
after cleaning and drying your bike thoroughly!!!....hand paint the BLACKOUT throughout your motor between your fins and in all those teeny little places.

BLACKOUT is TEFLON ....NOT SILICONE!!!!
it is safe throughout the bike even in those little oxidise concaves around your bolts to give that chrome new luster and protection from further oxidation

REMEMBER powdercoat is a teflon based paint so more teflon is a beautiful level of protection...(***NON-STICK***)(HEAT RESISTANT!)(even on your moms cookware!!)

I share this with you not only as a successful bike detailer but as a woman doin well in a previously deemed man's industry!!!
