I know most people focus on the outside of bike, but what about the road grime, salt, sand, break dust, etc.. that accumulates in the areas that you can't see?I am curious to know how many of you clean the underside of your fenders, and if so, how do you clean them? Is there a special detailing tool that allows for cleaning these areas?Any help willbe greatly appreciated.
I am concerned about corrossion working its way from the underside of the fender because of all the road grime that gets thrown from the tires and collects under the fender.I thought maybe someone would have a good way of accomplishing this. I was washing the bike yesterday and started thinking about this.
I thought I'd heard everything by now... this is a new one! Never even thought about caring whether the underside of my fenders were clean or not.... don't think I ever will unless someone comes up with a good reason.
It's really a simple matter. Corrossion. Why do you wash and wax the bike in the first place? Protection and appearance. Why should it be any different if corrossion starts on the outside or underside of the fenders. I would think that with all the road grime that gets thown from the tires this is a logical question, especially here in Wisconsin during this time of the year. With all the salt and sand that gets put on the roads during the winter I would rather be safe than face the alternative. Maybe I'm wrong and it's not a big deal, but I thought it was a valid question.
It Was A Valid Question, Your Just Like Me I Like My Chit Clean Top Bottom And Both Sides.
And Your Right About The Corrosion From Salt And Sand , Get It Off.
Call Your Local H-D Dealer And Ask Them What They Do.
What I Do Is Use An Old 409 Bottle Fill It With Car Was Soap 50/50 Mix And Spray Under the Fenders And All The Places I Can't Get To, Then Use A High Pressure Water Hose After I Wait About 15 Min And All The Juke Comes Off Real Easy Good Luck And You Was Very Right To Ask That Question Harley03joe
Thanks for the tip HarleyJoe. And, you're right, I would rather take care of my chit than worry about what someone thinks about cleaning the fenders. Keep the rubber side down!
