Painting Chrome

So I have quite a bit of chrome accessories on my 05 Superglide custom EFI. I was putting a parts list together of things that I'd like to be black to change the look of the bike to what I want. Needless to say the list got pretty expensive. I'd like to know if any of you have gone through the process of painting chrome parts and if it was worth it or should I just start buying the parts I want and save myself the hassle of the process of painting.

I've spray bombed a few chrome parts semi gloss black , Nothing high heat, Engine guard takes a lot of abuse (spackles of chrome) but other parts have held up. Cheep & I'm happy

Sand down the chrome, then spray with self etching paint, followed by 2 or 3 coats of your final color. I did this to my engine guard and it came out excellent.

To really get paint or powdercoat to stick, the surface has to be free of chrome. I blasted all of my parts to remove the chrome and provide a course finish for the paint or powdercoat. No peeling or flaking for over 13 years and 40K mikes.
