before putting it on a painted surface, you need to clean it well, I wouldn't put that on without at least using a prep solution to remove oils and such as well
Well crap, I just finished waxing. How long will it take for wax to wear off and please suggest prep solution I can get at the autoparts store?

Dawn will not remove wax that has been put on recently. Over on autogeek, guys have tested this theory and their findings show that dawn leaves a film on the paint. This film inhibits water beading, so people would think that the wax was removed.
A strong dilution of dawn can/will degrade wax, or remove wax that's on its last leg.
To ensure wax is removed, polishing is the "Sure" way to go. If I were attempting to remove wax with just a spray like Prep-All, I would wipe the paint down 2, 3X with it , maybe more

could you hand polish with a lightly abrasive polish?
