I am trying to remove the decal from my air cleaner cover. It appears to be a shiny metal material. I have tried to peel it off, acetone, wd-40 and patience, which I have exhausted. Acetone only removed the lettrs on the decal. Even tried a hair dryer. Actually, the hair dryer doesnt get it as hot as normal running conditions makes the cover extra hot. I can only peel off small bits and pieces. At that rate, I could be all day.
I took mine off with a heat gun and a plastic razor blade.
The plastic razor blade work great on things like this. Goo gone or the 3M stuff will work, plastic razor blade makes it quick and easy
Mystery solved.
Because of the foil type material used in the decal, conventional products just wont cut it. So I purchased some non-marring razor blades, made by Titan. Kinda of a plastic material. Took a little work, like 20 minutes, and then clen up with Goo-Gone. It didn't hurt the chrome at all. Looks nice.
