Dependiing on what model bike you have, maybe it would make sense to have a bigger/different one on other side? I don't know but if you end up not using that bag you can sell it as a single bag. Put it on the Forum For Sale pages. I've seen a number of bikes with just one bag, a minimalist bike with a single small bag for sandwiches, drinks, gloves, picnic sheet, tool kit.
I would recommend that you take this bag to a local saddle maker ,or if you live near an Amish community they usually have a leather shop .. They should be able to help you out and be the most reasonable .. Good luck ..
