I had nylon rain gear melt to my pipes recently. Tried chrome polish, rubbing compound (both clear coat fine and reg rubbing compound), Goo Gone and Goof Off. No luck getting it all off. Got about 50% off with goof off and rubbing compound. would not use steel wool (even fine one) as I have seen the results (it actually takes off a coating of the chrome and in the sunlight the pipes look great from far but up close this bike I saw looked like #$%#.)

I ended up getting the full strenght regualar EZ Off. heat up the pipes and use a clean t-shirt and spray ON THE SHIRT. then apply (dab) onto the hot pipe. let sit for 10 seconds and wipe off. I had to start the bike to get the pipes hot enough to get the final 10% off but it worked and no scratches and just took the melted stuff off!)

I was ready to check into pricing from V&H for the heat/sheild baffle section!

I've used -5 steel wool about a year ago to get some melted plastic off my pipes and I've never seen it look messed up. Of course don't use elbow grease.

I rode today and noticed my dickie pant had melted on my pipe some so when i got home i tried cleaning it with chrome cleaner , wd-40 , etc.I got about 75% of it off but the rest is really melted on there.I'm gonna try goof off tommarow and if that doesn't take care of the rest then im gonna go the ez off route.

One of the best all purpose cleaners is pure kerosene. It does not harm paint, and works well alsoas a degreaser. Dip you fine steel wool in it, and you'll be amazed at how clickly you can clean up your chrome, especially the road grime underneath your pipes, and boot marks on the pipes. When you're done, wash as normal to remove the oily residue.

Don't know about blue jeans tho....haven't done that yet!

I used iron cleaner yesterday. Worked great and easy to do. Got it from Walmart by irons.

Default Getting rid of burned jean pattern on Exaust pipe.

I just recently did this and it looked horrible. Happened right up next to the front cylinder. I was shocked to see it and didn't know what to do. I saw the other guys recomendation about using a fine gauge steel wool. I bought some for about $4.00 and that's all it took. I just scrubbed it away in about an hour and a half. So, if you find yourself in this situation then go get some 0000 steel wool and it'll come right out. I feel great and thanks to the guy who gave the recommendation.
