Ya know what else works? Doing nothing. I've done that. Since its towards the tail end of washing/cleaning the bike - I give it a half *** try at wipin it off with a dry cloth - and just leave it. It either fades to black over time, or the next time I wash the bike (by spraying with bike brite & then rinsing), it usually disappears.
I only use 2 products on my bike (black denim): bike brite for pre-wash cleansing, and mothers on the few shiny parts. No funky brushes, polishers or cleaners - and it looks great. I do blow it dry to try to get as much standing water off if I'm not going to be riding it soon, and occasionally use an SOS pad on the rims...but that's it & it always looks great.
I just use a stiff, nylon bristle, detailing, scrub brush I got at Walmart. I think it's actually a tile grout brush that I got in the section with the brooms, mops and scrub brushes. Spray a touch of windex and scrub and it takes my Mother's polish right of the wrinkle black.
Umm, not to be an ***, but the rocker box covers on the SB are not chrome unless you change them out for chrome ones. They are brushed aluminum.
Maybe windex instead??? I used to use that to keep em clean.

The black part on this part of the engine is a b*tch.. I use some soft brillo pad and it takes off some of the black. I use light cleaner & it doesn't take anything off.
How do I clean this part of my bike? All help is appreciated as usual. Hook me up.
If you scrubbed the paint off the jugs, you can buy wrinkle engine, or grill paint, mask of areas around with painters tape, newspaper for big areas, tin foil around the pushrod covers, then spray it on. If you happen to get some on chrome, laquer thinner on a rag will take it right off. I bought some gloss black ceramic engine paint and painted my whole engine, looks great!
