Detailing is one of those things that I think I would like to do, but as I get into it, I hate it. That's why my bike usually looks like I just got back from somewhere. Then, last year at Sturgis, I paid a couple of young ladies to wash my bike, and they used a pump-tank. Wow, I'm sold.
Ya see, you cool your bike with warm water from a hose, then spray diluted cleaner from a pump-tank, ie: bug, herbicide, deck stain, playin'-a-joke-on your-dog tank, and hose the thing off. Then, you run your shopvac in reverse to dry everything, start the bike--to make sure you don't need to head off to the dealer because you got water in some module; or you use that really cool bike dryer that looks like an old plumber's blow torch.
Hey, now you can decide if you have the patience to Q-tip stuff, or get picky with swirls in your windshield. You even got time to re wax.
