There was another thread about this here saying how great it was, went out and bought it. Crap! If you have any wax on your bike it does not allow the surface tension of the water to break, that's why it beads, and this stuff is designed to break surface tension and allow the water to skim off. Well, I live in a place where I get 4 months away from riding so I upgrade and clean the bike. That means a couple of coats of wax. You can have mine, free.
Scout,
Try a different brand of wax before trashing the Auto Dry. I've been using Liquid Glass on my trucks and bikes for a while and I'm stuck on this stuff. It really makes Black's and Red's pop. You can "build" several coats and it leaves a hard protective coat. Its not wax, its polish. I've been told after 10 coats it will protect against rock chips.
I was a hardcore Meguiar's #26 carnuba wax user, untill I tried Liquid Glass. Since I got the Mr. Clean I hav'nt touched a chamois.
I started the thread on the Mr. Clean Auto Dry a couple of months ago. There were tons of posts and around 95% positive. My bike is always spotless now. I believe in riding, not cleaning. Being able to put a spit shine on my bike and getting back on the road in less than an hour is my idea of detailing.
I also have a Cycle Dryer ($39.95) that I started a thread on a while ago. You can speed up the drying time after using the Auto Dry greatly by using the dryer.
Just a heads up Autozone has a clearance of the Mr. Clean auto dry pro model for $10. It is sku# 646328. Call the store and check stock before driving to save the hassle but they are going quick. The Mr. Clean tire eraser sponge, the white one that disappears as you clean, is also on clearance. It is priced a penny but you would need to ask the store to see what they would set it for. I would guess a $1. It is sku# 646327.
Good deals.
I love it!! I don't use the soap it comes with. I wash the bikes and cars with Mequires NXT soap and then rinse normally, then I put on the Mr Clean and rinse again with the filtered water and then hit them with the leaf blower and haven't had to touch a chamois since I got it.
