Trying to decide how "difficult" to be with a garage door company.
Had a technician istall new garage door springs yesterday. Moved my 2012 FLHX away from the door so it was out of his way. After he left, I went out to put the bike back where it was and noticed that the bike was covered from seat, tour pak, and rear fender with white lithium grease where he was spraying.
Called the door company and they offered to have the technician come back out and clean my bike. I asked if he was a trained detailer. Told them I would call the dealership and see what they recommend.
I know that the grease won't hurt the paint. I had just put a heavy coat of wax on it so cleanup should be easy. Not sure about the seat.
What's your opinion? Ask them to pay for detail?
If the "Tech" ( and we'll use that term loosely ) wasn't smart enough to see that he was having problems with the overspray ... I sure would think he wasn't smart enough ( or thorough enough ) to clean and detail my scooter !
I'm betting you have already cleaned your bike so why be difficult? What do you do for a living because carma can be a bitch.
I have cleaned the bike. The seat has stains but it is not the seat I usually ride with. No harm has been done that can't be fixed.
As far as what I do for a living, I'm an aircraft mechanic. Attention to detail is a must or things go bad quickly. I know that sometimes I do expect a lot from other people as far as attention to detail and pride in their work. But that's just because it is expected of me.
You should have had the conversation with the garage guy before he took any tools out of the truck. If any body is working even close to my bike, I ask them if I should move it some place else. At this point, I would ask for 25 bucks off the bill and clean it yourself. Even though you moved it a few feet, you have to take some responsibility, there is no way I would have had my bike in the garage if he was changing springs...it could have been much worse.
My garage door came off the track one day. First thing I did was to move my bike across the street before I even touched anything.

In Texas, that may be an option, but in Ohio, in January, there is snow and ice. Complicates things.

Are you ever going to use this company again?
Then again i have seen more than 1 tech. (pool, garage, plumber etc) change uniform shirts just before knocking on a door (kinda like a free agent)..Same guy different company shirt & hat..
Probably pissed you off but clean the bike yourself and if you really want to push ask for $15-$25 credit.
Probably better to let it go and probably fortunate that the over spray was not something that would eat paint.
They are bonded and insured no doubt, call them explain what happened and see what they offer. If nothing else, you may prevent someone else from going through the same thing. If I have any contractor working in my garage, I'll be sure to throw a sheet over my bike now, for sure. Thanks for the heads up
