I looked at the 2014/15 with the black wheels and considered paint or powder, but I'm not into too much black. I'm not sure I could match candy orange or if that would be a good wheel color or just too much orange.
So I'm going to try the Mothers ***** and polish when I lay the bike up in few weeks. It's easier to work on the wheels once the bike is on blocks. Should need new rubber in 2015, then I'll think about something more.
polishing these wheels blow, i have done the lips on several sets, what a nightmare, even with a full size buffer... but here are some pics of soem of the fat bob wheels we have done if that helps you decide what to do
we also do a contrast cut that comes out pretty wicked
Yeah thanks Joe. You would go and show these wheel pics to confuse my already taxed brain into thinking about taking the powder coat rout again. Those wheels look great. After much thought, I had decided to go the polished look by changing out the primary, cam and trans cover to polished (vs. the krinkle black it is now) to go for an old school look but I do love the blacked out look to.
Use a buffing wheel and rouge bars. Mounted on either a paint buffer or 6000 rpm grinder. They will come out looking like chrome and stay that way for awhile. Using mothers is not the same. It makes it shinier but not polished. Using the buffer and rouge wheels melts the aluminum and it lasts much longer. I make my living polishing aluminum. I wouldn't use mothers for anything. It's crap. You can see Pics of my work on Instagram @precisionfleet. I would use a muslin wheel and either green or white rouge. Basic supplies can be had at harbor freight. It's not what I use but it is cheap and available. professional supplies can be bought from Highwayshine.com. Hope this helps

Hey Joe, do you have time to pm me with the cost to power the wheels on my Fat Bob the same way, if I drop the bike off at you shop. I live in close.
Properly done the wheels would look stunning. Here is a before and after pic of a wheel we did yesterday. Only takes thirty minutes or so. Maybe an hour if you just started polishing.
