IMO, not a real smart idea, considering alot of you bob guys are already riding black bikes and if your making a turn it's not a bad idea to let the opposing cagers know which way your going at nite.
rodnreel, does the stock light thread onto the stud on those Kuryakyn mounts ok? I was thinking the stock lights were 5/16-24 and the Kuryakyns were 5/16-18. If those work, I wonder if the 2390's would work also.
You're right.... the threading is different. But that was solved with a trip to Ace Hardware, I bought 2 new button head bolts to attach the signals.
has anyone considered just cutting the harley ones down? im not sure how the mounts work but i wonder if its feasible to shorten them. i like the idea of mounting the signals to the lower tree becasue i also use the harley windshield and ithink the fork clamp style will raise my windshield too much.
These aren't the Kuryakyn brackets but give you a better picture on how they're assembled. The bolts that attach to the turn signals are countersunk in the brackets, to allow the bracket to fit the fork tubes flush. If your bolt heads are to tall (stick above the hollowed area for the bolts) the brackets will not wrap flush around your tubes.
Worse case.... You buy the correct bolt and thread pattern, and grind the head down a few mm to geta proper fit.
So...on the 2 piece Kuryakyn mounts, what I thought were 5/16-18 studs that screwed into the mount arein realitybolts thatpass through a countersunk thru-hole in the mount. All you have to do is replace them with 5/16-24 bolts. Thanks for the clarification and for the picture Tommay.
