Default Spec changes 2008-2011

I'm going to be selling my Sportster and buying a used Dyna soon (depending of course on selling the Sportster)

In my market, in my price range, there are a few Fat Bobs and a couple of Low Riders, also one Superglide Custom.

I've started doing more and more highway riding, mostly with the local HOG bagger guys that boot along pretty fast. The high RPM/ low torque of the Sportster has finally gotten to me.

My decision would be based on price, mileage, and year. But, searching hasn't turned up much on spec changes during these years.

I've read about a 5th gear change in '08 (which is why I've started my search at '08), then I read something about a 5th gear change in '10. I can't find much else. I've read something about lifter changes, cats in exhaust. I guess what I'm looking for, for example, if I can buy an '08 for less than a '10, would I be sacrificing anything in changes/upgraded spec?

And a 103, being newer, is out of my price range. I don't mind wrenching, I can always throw a kit in it in a year or two.

I'm not too worried about resale, I plan on getting something I can keep for the next 5+ years.

Thanks.

The 5th gear difference is they changed from a straight cut to a bevel cut gear (or maybe its the other way around...) after 2009 to get rid of the whine in 5th. Not a big deal.

Wheel bearings changed sometime around '08-'09 if I remember right.

Don't remember what year they added converters, but they're in the mufflers so slip-ons will fix that problem anyway.

I think '07-'11 Dynas are basically the same (unless you're looking at Street Bobs, then there's some cosmetic differences).

In 2012 they changed the computer system and oxygen sensors.

Thank you.

So if I'm looking at '08-'11 Fat Bobs, they are pretty well the same? Then I can make my choice based on price and mileage (and accessories, tires, etc), that makes it easier.
