I get some ticking from my 2002 88. I'm a fan of synthetic oil but sometimes I wonder if it's on the thin side despite the 50W label. I think mentally these noises can drive you crazy if you let it worry you. I don't have the time nor desire to tear a engine apart looking for noises so I decided to just stop focusing on it and enjoy the ride. It's amazing what you don't hear when you quit listening for them.

I've heard from a few people that the new indian thunder stroke clanks and clatters like a Diesel engine. Dunno if it's true but wouldn't surprise me. Evidently engine makers these days think musical valve trains are healthy
