Clearcoating Roadwinder Wheels

Waiting for my ebay roadwinder wheels to arrive. Thinking about having them clearcoated or maybe doing it myself.......any thoughts? Would this ruin the chrome? Has anyone done it?

Can't imagine why you'd want to do that. The chrome is about as maintenance-free as it gets and is tougher than clear coat.

Don't do it. They clean well with Windex(or soap and water) and I would put the occasional coat of wax on them.

The first problem you're going to have, is finding something that will stick to a chrome surface. I don't think clear coat will. I'm not familar with the powder coat process, but a few years back, a friend of mine worked for a place that powder coated some really big things (crane booms). Hetold me back then, the people they got their powder from (PPG I think, but I really can't remember), were working on a clear powder coat that wouldn't yellow. I have no idea if it was ever perfected.
