Default BAD&G solo bag install question

I have just ordered a DL01BL solo bag from BAD&G. I like the solo bag look and the great reviews the bags received on this Forum were a big help. I know that it has leather straps that you wrap around the chrome fender trim. The strap closest to the seat looks to be pretty easy since there is a nice gap in between the trim and the fender. The other side not so much. My question is when you loosen the trim, did you put a permanent spacer in between the trim and fender to create a gap or just thread the strap through and tighten? If so, does the leather strap degrade or get cut since the trim is clamped against the fender?

Thanks!

Loosen up the bolts for the trim cover, slide the leather straps thru and then snug the bolts for the trim cover back down.
The leather strap will not degrade any faster then the others - you'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies guys! Leaving out the spacer will make it much easier.

Thanks again!
