Put on the 11 progressive 412's last night. The look great, but had a little trouble last night installing them, and I still dont have them right.
The top shock bolt covers keep wanting to twist when tightening the nut. The have a slot cut out in the bottom and i tried to keep it centered but when I put the final toque on them, they want to twist all the way to one side.
How are guys keeping them centered when tightening them?
Another question on mounting the shocks, I misread and tightened the upper and lowers to 50 pounds instead of 40 and used blue lock tite. Would you mess with loosening them back up and going to 40 or leave it be? I was a little worried about crushing the bushings, but I dont want to take them off unless I have to.
Definitely leave those off. They were made to cover the ugly stock bushings.
Problem is the ugly stock bushings are still very visible with offbrand shocks. I painted mine black but if the OP is going the chrome route I can clearly see the issue. I second the idea of a flat washer under the acorn.
there were two washers...one after the shock bushing, then the cover, then another washer, then the acorn nut. it was put back exactly how it was stock. the washer didnt prevent the cover from twisting, however.
i may make a wooden shim cut to the right thickness to wedge in there while tightening so it wont damage the metal.
