FXDL Dash Change Out
A big thanks to those on the forum who previously posted threads about changing out the FXD dashes to add the ignition. With this help, I finally completed the change out of my Low Rider dash. Didn't really use the tach, and wanted the ignition up on the dash (dang key kept falling out when I turned the bike off). My Low Ride Bob Glide is coming together.
Using a parts list obtained here, I bought a FXDWG (2010 or newer) dash, wiring harness, misc parts, and moved my indicator lights and ignition to the dash.
Parts were purchased from New Castle PA HD online sales (killer prices, retail on the dash was over $300, I paid $180). I used a dash wiring harness from a 2007 FXDB which plugged right in to my main harness. I think I paid just over $300 for everything (dash, ignition, wiring harness, etc).
Was able to put almost everything together, but took the bike over to Tidewater Motorcycles in Suffolk, VA to have the ignition wiring extended to reach the new ignition. There are threads on here that showed how to build an extension, but I went ahead and made it permanent. (Note, HD stealership wanted 8 hrs of labor to extend the wiring, TM did it in 3).
Now I need to find black gas caps.
Low Rider dash (black), tach, wiring harness, etc, will be listed for sale (with pics) in the classified section shortly. Anyone interested just PM me.
