Default Need Help quickly on Buying a 2003 Dyna Low Rider

Hello All,

I posted earlier about my wife taking my 14 Street Bob and selling her Superlow. Well, I test rode a street glide and didnt like it, so I am keeping my Bob.

We were about to trade her Superlow in on a Street Bob (she rode a Lowrider and didnt like it, but loves the street bob).

Here is my dilema, my buddy has a 2003 Low Rider with Thunder star wheels, a superglide rear fender and a bunch of chrome that was his girlfriends bike. They bought it new, she put just under 4K in miles and it has sat in the garage for a few years. They have all of the original parts (wheels, fender, seat etc) plus the new parts. No rust, looks new. They want $7,500. It is a carbed, TC88.

Thoughts? Of course my wife has to sit and ride it to see if she likes it, but I am grappling with the price. It is in the range for the year and it is a 1 owner bike, but I know nothing about the Dyna's from that era.

Thanks for any help.

They are high on the price.
$5,500 max would be more like it
Regardless of the mileage. Sitting might be a bad thing.
I paid $6,000 for a 2005 super glide with 7,000 miles on it. It looked new.
Is this the anniversary edition?
that is all I could find for that year.
Resale retail is $7,440, that's retail like from a shop.

Yes, it is a 2003 Anniversary model. Here is a pic of it:

I would offer them $6,500 and see what they say.
Being a anniversary bike the resale is some higher.

I just bought my 03 anniversary Low Rider chromed out about 4 months ago with almost 15,000 miles. It's the gun metal blue color. Paid $7,900 so I don't think the price is too bad.

That price is in line. Last October I traded into my mint condition '04 FXDL with 15,000 miles and I think asking price was $7,700 from a used bike dealer. They also had an '03 FXDL with 55,000 miles for I believe $6,600 or $6,800. The HD shops were all asking between $8,500 and $10,500 for similar bikes. I'd buy your buddy's bike for $6,500 to $7,500 and feel that both parties got a fair deal.

My son picked up a 2004 fuel injected Low Rider, 12K with a new custom paint job, SE pipes, and other minor upgrades for $7000 from a local dealer last July. I thought the final price was on the high side but it was in line for what they were going for locally at the time.

Thumbs up

Sounds like a fair price, especially if it is "almost new" and she who decides really likes it. You will have some work to do checking everything out since it sat up but the 2003 FXD is a great bike. I love mine!!!

bike has some nice chrome, that ups the value. its really low mileage too. it all depends on how much you like the bike, consider vs buying a new one at $17k,, I would much rather spend $7k for basically the same thing. Your wife may not like the heavy clutch pull so make sure on that aspect.

I paid $9k for a 2003 wide glide at a dealer but it was a really nice one, special order paint & all, it was just very nice and worth the money in my eyes, still much cheaper than dropping $16k on a new stock one then modding it. to builkd a bike like this 2003 would have costs well over $25k so hect yes I paid $9200 for it.

You said she loves the Street Bob. There are plenty in that price range. I see 07's and up going for around $7500 and 06's for less than that.
