Sharp looking Fat Bob but...
But like the vivid black paint and the black denim/flat black bikes, now those are some black bikes, no doubt.
I see mine more as like the old muscle cars of the 60's that were sold specifically for drag strip racers with the "radio delete" option to reduce weight and battery draw.
So I see it as "chrome" delete. Some of Moco's style leaves a lot to be desired. I think sometimes they just put on a chrome part because the painted or non-chromed part bin was empty.
Some of their stuff looks mix-catchy, like they really don't try with completing a thought.
Myself, I like paint with the rest blacked out, like I would actually like to repaint my bike in some blue or maybe medium-dark gray, no pearl.
Of course with blacked out it's just an extenuation of the black frame. I mean, you got a black frame, with black and paint I have all the contrast I need.
This V-Twin engine is the coolest looking motorcycle engine on the planet and for whatever reason I like how the black really showcases the engine.
I think there are some that think that those of us with blacked out bikes either like mine or a full black bike have them black to exude some bad *** persona, which I must say I never think. (Truth be told, I dig my bike so much I have to wear a full face helmet cause I'd look so stupid grinning all the time. I'm laughing at the rest of the world who aren't on a fun/kick *** bike like mine or at least one that makes them feel as good as I do.)
I don't except Moco's idea of what they think purchasers should be satisfied with; "...c'mon in boys, the water's fine"
I personally don't like chrome on bikes or cars. I've built plenty of both and neither had any chrome except for maybe some tiny accents. While I respect the looks of other people's bike that do have chrome it's just not for me.
I also like to mix flat, satin and gloss finishes. I've heard plenty of people say flat paint looks unfinished and hate it. That doesn't bother me one bit because I love the way it looks.
If you want to black it out, do it. If you like fairings, put 3 of em on there if you want. Like chrome, dip the whole thing 3 times. Rat it out, chop it, stretch it, spray paint it, do whatever makes you happy and screw all the haters!!
For you blue man I have just one word ...... Respect
Blacked out bikes are nothing new, and as far as seeing "...a thousand and one other bikes." because of a little fairing or bars, c'mon, blacked out bikes and fairings are far outnumbered by all other types of H-D's.
The beauty of these Dyna's is they are (my opinion) the best platform of Harley's to do what you want with, some people are content with keeping them stock, and I love to see those bikes, and some people like to tinker and change a thing here or there, that's cool too.
I imagine in the warm places (Cali) and big metro areas you see a lot of bikes like you do here in the "Thug/Club" thread but not around here.
110% of what I do with my bike is from riding it or standing in my garage and staring at it until I notice something on it that I want how I want it, not from how I think someone else will appreciate it or dislike it.
Bikes are cool, damn fun to ride. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind people who have less than positive opinions of other bikes, it's all good, world would be boring if we didn't have other views.
Like my sex life and sense of humor, my bike only has to please one person, me

Well said. Prob expresses the thoughts of a great many other Forum members regarding their choice of colors and mods.

Now to change things up with the all black look on my ride, I have thought about (when money isn't an issue) getting the bike painted to maintain the all black look but having the vivid black coated in a nice rich candy blue, that way when the light hits the bike just right the blue will reflect, other wise the bike still looks black. To me its kinda like those old Archie comics where Veronica's hair is black, but always has that blue tint to it, cheesy I know, but I like the idea.

Black PC is just the obvious choice as opposed to majority who would replace non-chrome parts with chrome, especially in decades past but that all changed with powder coating so accessible to the masses.
I'm gonna send Joe some special parts that he does so well but for the rest of my stuff so far all I've had to do is drive across town to a nice shop that PC's stuff, I think the closest chrome place is in SLC, Denver, or LA (I think due to EPA restrictions and because more cars and trucks are made more chrome-less over the past couple of decades.
So the frame is black, tires are black, you can't just go and start PC'ing something just any color, hell, it's gotta compliment the bike, black goes with everything, hence, black is the obvious choice to customize/personalize one's bike from OEM.
PC really brought the ability to do things like many of us do to our bikes. Hell, it's durable, comes in different surfaces, colors of course, and it's easy to do. All you have to do is remove the part and take it to a shop and Bam, day or so later Whamo, cool is as cool does

And damn, black engines, trannys, primarys, they look damn good

Hell Yeah
