What impact did you buy? You don't need a 124" unless you bought the ir 2135 titanium... Ok back to the task at hand. Like 07bobber said, replace the sealing bolts for sure

The design is fine. It's *you* and your heavy foot stomping on the shifter instead of tapping it like you're supposed to do.

Pretty sure its a piece of **** design. It's a common problem to have a floppy shifter pedal and in order to replace the rod you have to yank everything out. Not the best design.

Weld them together. It's already ruined, you can't make it any worse.
Then cut it off when you need to, & buy a new set up.

I was going to say the same thing, but I am such a "by the book" type that I erased my post!

How about showing some cites for calling it a "common problem".

I don't use forward controls but I installed forward pegs and I shift and brake with my heels and with 71,000 miles on my bike the shifter is still going strong and working well on my FXD (stock controls, no floorboard crap or aftermarket satuff other than the forward pegs for my long legs).

I have personally only read two or three posts of people having the 'problem' you're having, on this forum. To me, that doesn't make it very "common". Even if 20 people posted similar things, out of the millions of bikes that doesn't come close to making it a "common" problem.

Shift easier and you won't have the trouble. Also, IMO, it's an easy fix and nothing like what you're making it out to be.
