There's a gazillion threads on this forum about tires,,
And every tire out there has been reviewed here with about a 50/50 split with the love/hate opinion for each tire.
Ya know, all B.S. aside,,
All the top manufacturers Dunlop, Michlein, Metzeler, Pirelli all make tires that compete with each other,, so the tires in each class are really pretty much the same. The best tire (?),, is a new one. (period)
The key is to find a dealer either on-line or local that has the tire you want at the best price and one that's not a 9yr old "new"/old stock.
Good luck, now all that,, and all the searching I've done,
I'm going with Pirelli,, I want "grip"
Mich Commander IIs are unpredictable in the rain. This is from personal experience as well as friends who claim similar. Good point is they last a long time. That's also a bad point if you want to replace them with something other asap. I'm on my second set, I won't be buying a third.

My experience is different.
I live in south Florida. It rains virtually every day during the summer. If I ride during the summer it is usually through rain at some point. On long runs, I don't stop or really even slow down on the highway for rain.
I've never had an issue with the Michelin C IIs in rain.
Their mileage life is superior to any tire I've ever run before.
I run a 170/60 17 Avon Storm 2 Ultra. Fills the fender a little better, grips like an champ and wears well. Plus you can get one for 140 bucks off amazon, good price for a great tire. I run avons, my father in law runs metzlers, and were both right in our decision.

I do a lot of weather riding myself, and they are not a problem on the highway, dry or wet... it's when you need to stop is when they can lose grip. Typically the rear will let go and not regain traction... like ice.
