Still working on deciding which Harley to get for my first Harley. My wife and I have sat on a Heritage Sotftail Classic at a stealer and she has plenty of room. While I wile be riding this Harley mostly by myself, When she does ride, I want here comfortable. She is NOT comfortable on my Vulcan 750! Last night we went and sat on a Dyna Lowrider with stock seat and backrest and a Softail Standard with stock seat and backrest. My wife said that the softail had nearly as much room as the Heritage, but the Lowrider was not much more room that my Vulcan.
So my question is, is there an aftermarket seat for a Dyna that moves the driver up to give the passenger more room, that is comfortable for both and as wide as possible for the passenger? If there is, I definately would need forward controls as I feel my are in my chest with the mid controls. Otherwise, it looks like I will be buying a Softail Standard or Heritage Classic.
I picked up my 07 Low Rider about three weeks ago. Got the Sundowner seat installed before I rode it out, and have no regrets. There's a lot more cushion for the passenger, and the Sundowner seat puts me up just a bit higher... maybe a half-inch. The dealer told me that after a while the pad in the seat would compress a bit and make it the same height as the stock seat. I've put on about 400 miles so far... and the seat hasn't gotten any lower. It's comfortable, and looks good too.
Thanks for the info. Sounds like I should check out the sundowner. The biggest concern is the depth of the passenger seat as my wife "has some meat on her bones". If a seat gives the passenger more room, the it must scoot the driver up toward the bars, right? How much more room does the passanger have between the back rest pad and back of driver as compared to stock seat?
