Greetings,

Thinking about getting SE 204 cams or similar bolt in. I'm looking to make this as easy as possible. Not looking for headwork and what not.

From what I've researched, I need the cam, inner bearing tool, potentially new push rods and new gaskets. Is there anything else that I need for this install?

might as well throw in some new lifters while you're in there

 

New clutch spring. Might as well do tappets. SE install grease. Watch the YouTube to familiarize yourself

 

There are lots of cams out there that will hands down outperform the 204 without any other modifications....
Woods TW-5-6 or TW-222
Andrews 48H
S&S mr 103
Depending on mileage S&S lifters

 

Go with Andrews 48. You wont be disappointed

 

if your shopping for good price's?? check amazon,that's where I got my Andrew's 48h cam's for 206.00 shipped... got the standard s&s lifter's for 103.00 there also, and the S%S gasket and bearing set for about 37.00... shopped ebay for the SE adjustable pushrod kit for 120.00 shipped... haven't put but a few mile's on bike since having the work done... but sound's great and seem's to run very nice... if you need any part#'s let me know....

Thanks for everyone's supplies. Yeah, I've read a few cam related threads already and am getting serious about the install.

I'm not going to get into "which cam", but looking for info on the "other" things that go with it.

Am I correct to assume that with a manufacturer listed "bolt in" cam, that no other parts are needed, aside from bearings and gaskets?

What is a lifter, and why is it necessary to upgrade for a bolt in cam? I know it's a popular upgrade, but what am I gaining? Also, tappets were mentioned as an upgrade. Is it necessary for a bolt in cam? What is gained?

Clutch - I've read some folks upgrade their clutch spring (at the expense of making the clutch pull heavier???). Is this necessary for a bolt in cam change?
