Default helm joint shift linkage question

Check out the pic. Do I need to put a nut where the arrow is? The existing bolt threads in. Would loctite be sufficient? Or would the bolt come unscrewed?

I was able to get the nuts on mine, and thread locked it all. But Just thread lock and a good 'n tight torque should be fine.

Bung King link? Mine is a BK link and I was able to get the nuts on mine no problem and they havent fallen off or loosened any.

I'd get a bolt about 1/4" longer, and toss a nut on the back - not sure you have enough threads on the one in the pic to put a bolt on that one

If you have room use a longer bolt with a nylon lock nut.
I wouldn't use red loctite. The bolt is rather soft.

i was just gonna use some blue loctite. Is having a nut necessary? I have a longer bolt but it looks like ***.

I replaced my shift linkage with the heim jointed one last year and I used a dab of blue Loctite on the 2 bolts, and they haven't budged since.

Unless yours is different than it looks to me...

The piece that the bolt goes through last is already threaded, making it the nut in the system.

Adding another nut on the end would be a little redundant, but certainly not a bad thing.

When you think about it though, having a heim joint up at the bolt head makes it pretty unlikely that anything other than the already-threaded portion is going to put any twisting force on it while in use--the heim joint design means that the bolt will simply swivel in place freely.

On mine, I used blue locktite and a nut on the front part, and blue locktite alone on the back, which is what yours looks like in the picture.

All the best,

Shane
