Dyna Headlights

Dyna Headlights
What is the purpose of the metal shroud over the Dyna headlight? Does it house electrical or is it structural? Are there kits to eliminate it and just have a nice Chrome headlight or is there more to it than that? Thanks

There's a rather large cluster of wiring in there.
There's a simple solution to your question really
Grab a phillips screw driver in one hand and your ********* in the other and take a look.
It'll be good practice, who knows(?) you might have to change a bulb some day.

Also, on the Dyna models that have that cover, it is what the headlight bucket mounts to. On Dynas that do not have it, the headlight bucket attaches by means of a bolt through the bottom triple tree.
